Ecce Romani
Part of the Stories of the Second Son series Ecce Romani at first glance is a woman taking a canal side stroll through Venice, Italy, but is the our Venice? Is it our Italy? Is it our world? The painting is done in oil on 12"x9" canvas.
A Vermelha Noite (The Red Night)
Part of the Stories of the Second Son series, A Vermelha Noite (The Red Night) is inspired by the story from the novel. Set in Porto, Portugal the story takes us to the Fado music underground, in a dark tale of wine, justice, music, and violence; the tile work the city is known for is reimagined in this painting to tell the tale, if you're able to decipher it.
Cindy and the Sea
There is nothing like watching the fog roll in over the ocean while the islands disappear in the mist. Maine is so beautiful nature sometimes has to hide some of it away for a bit to give us all a breather.
This 24" x 24" painting is oil on wood attached to the frame pictured here coming to a measurement of 32" x 32". They are as inseparable as being a painter in Maine and the inevitability of doing a seascape.
A Day at the Huntington
If you like looking at art about looking at art, then this is your kind of art. (Though I do suggest looking over your shoulder to make sure there is not an artist painting you while you do so.) A Day at the Huntington is the first of the series Ins and Outs; a series of 50 smaller paintings of interiors and exteriors of this emotive world I like to paint.
This special slice of canvas is 10" x 9" ( I know, weird right?) If you've ever been to The Huntington Library in San Marino, California, you may be one of the people in the painting.
The Mudroom
Part of the Stories of a Second Son series. The Mudroom is inspired by the short story that shares its name. Time, space, and a snowstorm mess with a family in the mountains of Maine. This is less of a landscape and more of a portrait of a place. What if every time you stepped outside time shifted differently from the family you left inside in a way you can't control?
This oil painting on 12" x 16" canvas isn't as cold as it looks, but it is perfect for those who want their walls to offer an escape into another world.
Lindzie Waiting
Lindzie Waiting is a work that captures the idea of hope; of waiting for life to improve. I like to think that as she is staring off, she is really looking towards a future filled with possibilities.
Matty at Dick Mack's
Painted from one of the finest pubs in all of Ireland, Matty at Dick Mack's is oil painted on a 24"x36" canvas.
La Famile Degas
A look at the tomb of the famous impressionist artist Edgar Degas. The family name was changed when the artist's father changed his name to De Gas when he immigrated to Italy during the artist's life; explaining the unwelcome space in the engraving. The ghost of his most famous subject, the young dancer waiting for the artist to come out.
Sinead Was Right
This painting pays homage to the singer/activist/hero Sinead O'Connor, who was vilified for speaking truth to power and using her platform to call out abuse. Decades later when the voices of the children rose up against their abusers, the world, the church, the press, and the music industry all were silent. She was owed at the very least an apology. She is now owed our remembrance, our reverence, and our gratitude for her leadership and example.
Mental Blot
India Ink and Acrylic paint on paper. This painting was used in the debut production of Mental, a musical written by the artist Daniel Reynolds and the music by Cindy Jollotta. You could own a piece of American Theatre History, as there are plans to continue producing the musical for a potential New York run.
